Ben started training me radically differently to what I had been before. I was training less, resting more, making the most of the time I did have on the bike and seeing my fitness and speed increase exponentially. This was especially helpful as at the time I also had college work to contend with, so on a schedule of no more than 8 hours on the bike per week I was able to train in a way that meant I wasn’t missing out on anything.
Other than giving me training to do on my own I also benefitted massively from joining Ben on his rides.
He truly embodies his style of training, and after one of his rides you never fail to end up absolutely spent, and with a massive smile on your face. I also found the 1 on 1 sessions critical to getting into the right mentality, both throughout the winter months and when focussing in on specific goals.
Using Ben’s methods and with Ben working extremely hard to help set my head straight I proudly won the junior category of the National 25 in 2013, after having spent the 6 months before the event training on average less than 6 hours per week, a massive personal goal of mine which at one stage had seemed out of reach, and I never would have achieved it without Ben working so hard to help me get there.
